Introducing the BlackBerry® 8830 World Edition

Whether at home, on the road, or abroad, the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition smartphone from Bell is a great productivity and entertainment tool for mobile business professionals. The BlackBerry 8830 benefits from the fastest and largest network coverage in North America as well as worldwide CDMA and GSM compatibility, allowing for superior access to email, contacts, internet, and schedules.

The BlackBerry 8830 smartphone is noticeably thinner than previous BlackBerry models and has a sleek look thanks to chrome accents and a nifty trackball for menu navigation. It can help increase your productivity by allowing you to easily view Word, Excel and PDF files. It also offers excellent multimedia file support for main audio (MP3, WMA, AAC) and video formats (MPEG-4, WMV, H.264). An integrated MicroSD card slot allows you to expand the standard 64 MB of memory to store your large files.

The familiar QWERTY keyboard layout and sharp 2.4-inch color display (320 X 240 resolution) allow you to easily type messages and optimally view on-screen content. A built-in ambient light sensor ensures that the screen adapts to changing conditions.

Voice dialling support is a very convenient feature especially when using the phone with an optional Bluetooth headset. Voice support extends to the smartphone's integrated GPS Navigation application. You can enter an address vocally or by using the keypad and the BlackBerry 8830 GPS Navigation system will provide you with straightforward audible and visual driving directions.

The BlackBerry 8830 World Edition smartphone is reasonably priced at $299 (with a 3-year contract with Bell Mobility). It's quite a value when you take into account its great data performance, multimedia support, integrated GPS system and world-wide CDMA/GSM coverage. The BlackBerry 8830 smartphone is available for purchase starting June 25th, 2007 at Bell Mobility stores, at authorized retailers and online at Bell.ca.

Seamless World Coverage (Demo)

The BlackBerry 8830 smartphone enables you to stay connected with clients and colleagues while overseas. There's no need to change handsets, phone numbers or email addresses. It is compatible on 800/1900 MHz GSM and 1X Ev-DO networks for trouble-free phone and data access in 170 countries.

Fastest North American Network (Demo)

The data optimized high speed mobile network from Bell provides North America's fastest email download and Web surfing experience. The high speed network allows Bell Mobility customers to share large data files and leverage new wireless data applications at speeds that are up to five times faster than Rogers. Bell plans to introduce further speed enhancements in selected markets across Canada throughout 2007.

Web page load times on the BlackBerry 8830 are consistently fast. For added convenience, text loads before images, allowing you to quickly surf through Web pages.

Windows Live™ Messenger (Demo)

Bell Mobility is the first Canadian service provider to support Windows Live™ Messenger as an optional service. You can stay connected with your contacts from anywhere when using the BlackBerry 8830 as a Bell customer.

If you are not a Windows Live™ Messenger user, the BlackBerry 8830 can be used with Yahoo® Messenger, Google® Talk or the standard BlackBerry Messenger (which allows you to communicate with other BlackBerry users).

Enhanced Multimedia Capabilities (Demo)

The BlackBerry 8830 ships with a copy of Roxio® Media Manager 9™, which allows easy drag and drop transfer of mutlimedia files between your PC and smartphone. The BlackBerry 8830 displays photos in vivid color on its excellent high resolution, 320 X 240 pixel display, which automatically adjusts its brightness based on ambient light. The smartphone automatically pauses a song or video when there is an incoming call.

Multimedia file format support is extensive:
- Audio: MP3, WMA, AAC, MIDI
- Video: MPEG-4, WMV, H.264

The Media Manager allows you to create MP3s from your CDs, add audio tags and album artwork, and create custom playlists. You can also set one of your favourite MP3s as a ringtone.

Audio is played back over an integrated loudspeaker or via the integrated stereo jack. A stereo headset with integrated microphone is an excellent add-on to this smartphone for users who like to talk hands-free and frequently use the smartphone's multimedia capabilities. A microSD slot makes it easy to upgrade the 64 MB of onboard memory and store your favourite multimedia files.

GPS Navigation (Demo)

One of the most attractive optional features of the BlackBerry 8830 is GPS Nav. You can specify an address vocally or using the keypad and it gives you spoken turn-by-turn directions (including street names) as well as visual cues on a 3D map. The smartphone's natural-sounding female voice tells you the distance before the next turn and then re-alerts you as you approach it, making it hard to get lost. It's a great service for anyone who is frequently on the road.
